Some individuals argue that letting children decide on their own regarding everyday choices, such as food, clothes, and entertainment will probably create society of people who only consider their own benefits. Nevertheless, others think that it is necessary for children to make decisions about things that influence them. In my opinion, while both perspectives have merits, I believe that allowing children deciding on everyday matters play a pivotal role in children’s lives.
To begin with, there are valid reasons why some people advocate for allowing children decide on their own could cause problems in later life. This is largely because children do not fully comprehend things around them when they desire something. In other words, they only focus on their own benefits and this forces them forget about anything and anyone. A clear example of this is when young adults think only about themselves at workplace and public areas. This results from their selfish behaviors during their childhood, which was not prevented by their parents or teachers.
In addition to this, proponents of allowing children decide on their own maintain that children should take responsibility in early ages. This is primarily because when children make decisions on their own, they create habit of taking a responsibility. In other words, they are independent and have their own ideas which support their growth as adults in their later career or studies. For instance, European children are more free to decide matters around them regarding anything from food to entertainment. Nonetheless, children mostly guided by their parents or teacher in Middle East or Asia, which prevents their self decision-making in their future life.
In conclusion, while not letting children deciding have its advantages, I firmly believe that children should be free to decide on everyday matters concerning them.
