Technology in the information age has become more prevalent in our lives. We are becoming more dependent on our communication devices such as smartphones combined with the increasing affordability of previously mentioned devices. When a large part of the population is connected to the internet, those who are not may feel left out, including children in school.
If children can browse through their phones or play games with it during school day, it may be easier for them to make friends with their classmates or students outside their class. Phones can also help with education as children can find information quickly through their phones. Children can also help each other when a kid misses out on lesson by sending them their notes.
On the other hand, banning the use of phones during class means interaction between children has to be in person. This may reduce the amount of friends each kid can make, but it can also increase the depth of friendship by doing activites together. a deep relation with someone may last a lifetime and it may be beneficial for their future.
I think that phones should be allowed during school days but there should be a stric regulation around using it. For example, phone should only be used when the teacher of the class deems it necessary to enhance the learning experience. An alternative way to optimally utilize phone is to incorporate phones in the education programs.
In conclusion, i think utilizing phones to enhance learning experience in school should be considered, but it has to be under the watch of the teaching staff.
