Yes many people are of the view that children’s time and activities should be scheduled by their care givers while others support the idea that children should be given free hand to decide how do they want to spend their time.
Well, I do agree with 1st view that parents/caregivers should plan positive and healthy activities for their children according to their cognitive and biological developmental stages. So that children should not waste their time and energy in vain. But I really not appreciate or I must say that I disagree with the pattern of activities that most of our kindergarten schools are following. Those instructed activities are hindering the potential of children instead of helping them grow cognitively. As every individual is unique and children are enriched with unlimited potential and imagination power, so activities must be planned in a open ended manner that children can freely explore their environment. I believe that it will help them think out of the box and flourish. Thus, children should be doing organized activities, but those activities must be organized with mutual involvement of children.
