To some believes children who are receiving pocket money from their parents every week or every month are able to manage their resources and money overall much easier when they will be adults. I partially agree with this statement because it may indeed be so, which will be important and useful for these children in the future. But on the other hand, with money in childhood, they may become irresponsible for their purchases, which will be reflected later in the future.
Parents should definitely explain to children who are given pocket money for personal small expenses how to manage it. This will make children understand that it will be better if they first think before buying whether it is worth it and whether the product is too expensive. Also, if children learn to manage money in childhood or before they become fully independent, they will be able to start their personal path more easily and have much fewer problems. As an example, I can give myself, who was also given pocket money as a child, but I didn’t understand that I shouldn’t always spend it on sweets at the first opportunity, which I’m not even allowed to eat. Now that I’m older, I regret not saving that money.
This practice will not only be good, but even useful. Only if the child itself understood what the parents were talking about. With a constant feeling that after a week or a certain time the parents will be able to give more pocket money, the child spends it recklessly, developing a habit of easily spending importatnt resources on things that are not quite necessary and practical. This happened and still happens to my younger brother, who from time to time gets a little pocket money from our parents. He always says that he wants something expensive, cool and really practical, while at the same time he spends money on very small purchases. As a result, his savings melt away very quickly.
