Technology has changed humans’ lives in almost all aspects of their lives, encompassing transportation, medicine, and the marketplace. This transformation does not stop evolving, and the pace of change is becoming hectic, with new discoveries every week. While some people believe that technology is beneficial due to the advancements that have improved human beings’ existence, others contend that it is detrimental, as the trend of swift development has become uncontrollable. I contend that technology has acquired an unprecedented speed of development that poses a threat to societies, specifically the artificial intelligence (AI) recent capabilities that experts themselves cannot predict their consequences.
Proponents contend that technological advancements are beneficial because they have undoubtedly enhanced human beings’ lives in different spheres, such as health, education, and the world of work. For example, in the USA, blood is already extracted with AI intelligent machines always supervised by professionals, and doctors can perform some surgeries assisted by AI technology.
However, critics posit that technology’s fast development has become negative for societies, as experts cannot even understand its consequences. Technology has always been supervised and controlled by human beings, but recent advancements using AI are making technology autonomous. For instance, the late appearance of driverless cars, human-like workers, and AI teachers’ assistants in developed countries like the USA and China has changed the positive perception of technology, as autonomous technology is given total control of humans’ lives.
In my view, what used to be beneficial is becoming detrimental because the world seems to be increasingly run by autonomous technology. Unfortunately, technology experts cannot even understand the repercussions of their developments, posing a threat to human beings. The AI development is becoming uncontrollable, and important authorities of technological companies like Anthropic say that experts “are gambling with human lives.” For instance, in October 2026, AI showed the capability to detect problems in the PHP system that runs the Internet with incredible speed and precision, proving AI has outpaced human beings’ capabilities.
In conclusion, while technology has been beneficial to society, its late uncontrollable improvementt has become detrimental since not even experts can predict its consequences. Governments globally must implement an international framework to lower the pace of AI development, thereby safeguarding the future of humanity.
