Advancement of technology, the role of computer and the internet in a child’s education has a great deal of the debate. While some people believe that these digital tools are more important than schooling and teacher, other takes argue that schools and teachers are essential for the child’s learning and development. In my opinion, it is better the traditional way of teacher mentoring the social and personal development in school is irreplaceable.
On one side of the argument, there are people who hold the opinion that computers and internet are essential tools for a child’s academic development. The internet provides children with ultimate access and allowing to exploring subjects beyond the scope of their classroom curriculum. Another reason is that online platforms often offer personalized learning experiences, enabling students to study at their own pace. For example, websites such as educational YouTube channels offer tutorials and exercises that can reinforce what children learn in school.
In my view, while computers and the Internet are valuable tools in education, they cannot replace the essential role of teachers and schools. Teachers provide the guidance and mentorship that students need to navigate academic challenges and develop socially and emotionally. They are able to recognize students’ strengths and weaknesses, adjusting lessons to meet individual needs and ensuring that students are challenged appropriately. Furthermore, teachers also play a key role in motivating students and instilling discipline, helping them to stay focused and engaged in their studies.
In conclusion, although computers and the Internet offer several advantages for children’s education, I believe that teachers and schools play a more fundamental role. The personalized support, mentorship, and social development that teachers provide are play a vital role in child education journey.
