Culture plays a key role in shaping society, and its connection with tourism is a debatable topic. While some think that it will be destroyed if it is used for tourism income, others think that tourism is merely a way to protect culture. From my perspective, tourism can be beneficial for the economy of the government, but to some extent, it may also be a threat to cultural authenticity.
On the one hand, some people think that culture can be ruined due to some reasons, such as forgetting local identity and environmental and structural damage. Firstly, one of the main problems is that some historical places and structures can forget their meanings for locals. For instance, when the government turns historical places to entertainment places, due to attracting more tourists, these places can lose their original meaning in history and from people’s minds. Secondly, the effect of the arrival of more tourists can be detrimental for structures. It is a clear example that some naughty and irresponsible tourists can damage the structure of historical buildings or pollute the surroundings of the buildings.
On the other hand, others think that tourism has some benefits, such as financial support for buildings, increased awareness and cultural exchange. It is possible that tourism traffic can be beneficial not only for the government, but also for these cultural places. For example, when tourists come to there and pay, the government and locals spend this income for rebuilding and renovating of these buildings. Additionally, while tourists can see these historical places, they can also recognize their history and meanings.
In conclusion, the tourist can bring some good aspects with also negative aspects. In my opinion, the coming of tourists is beneficial for the future and preserving of historical culture, but there should be some rulers and restrictions to protect these.
