One of the widely discussed issues nowadays is whether economic growth is the best solution to end world-wide poverty or whether it should be halted immediately in order to prevent environmental damage.It is undeniable that economic development has become an essential part of modern society. However, there is no absolute agreement whether economic growth should be continue or limited for the sake of the planet.
A commonly belief is that economic growth is necessary to reduce global poverty. As evidence of this , they point to the fact that growing economies give more opportunities to create jobs and increase individual’s incomes. Furthermore,governments receive more tax revenue which can be later invested in healthcare,education, and, public services.It could be explained by the fact that when businesses expand, they need more employers and resources. As a result, it leads to higher living standards and better opportunities for poor communities.
On the other hand, some people claim that economic growth should be halted due to it’s detrimental consequences for the biodiversity. For example, they may mention that factories and industries produce pollution and greenhouse gases, which can contribute to climate changes.In addition, natural resources such as water, forest, and,fossil fuels are overused during economical expansion. The explanation lies in the fact that many companies focus more on profit than sstainabilty. Therefore,continued growth can seriously damage ecosystems and threaten future generation.
In conclusion, taking everythingentioned into account I would agree that economic growth shoud not be stopped completely, as it remains essential for reducing poverty.Nevertheless, it must be managed responsibly to maintain development of nature.
