The question of whether the government should focus on funding public services, such as health and education or whether creative fields, such as music and theater, has been a matter of contention. Although health and education play a central role in people’s lives, there will also be a need for music and theater.
Some people believe that focusing on funding for health and education helps to raise a well-educated and strong nation. This is because healthcare and gaining knowledge are often described as the twin pillars of a stable and productive society. For example, in Nordic countries like Sweden and Finland, it is essential to invest highly in universal healthcare and high-quality schooling. Funding in public health also helps to prevent unforeseen diseases by early treatment of illness. Similarly, education enables people to create innovation, especially in technology and industries based on science.
Others argue that society should not underestimate the value of the arts, as it is a tool that preserves national identity. For instance, music and theater show the traditional aspects of one’s country. Art is crucial for fostering creativity, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence. Additionally, students who study arts are more inclined to work in a team and show confidence during their lives.
In my opinion, a more balanced approach should be adopted. Governments should keep balance while putting money into arts, community health, and arts. They are linked with each other and will show a better effect when each of them is considered.
In conclusion, both ways are effective and one of them can not be neglected when it comes to funding.
