A big issue of our daily life is certainly the connectivity with other cities and the spots of interest that you need to reach frequently, such as the office in which you are working at, a specific store, etc. In fact, it can be quite challenging going to these places, in particular in some cities or countries in which the road infrastructure or the public transport is not taken care of sufficiently.
Some people think that it should be more important to get funds for the latter, because means of transport can bring a lot of passengers to their destination in one ride and, if more people use them more often, the problems of pollution and traffic jams, which are very relevant in metropolis, can be reduced; consequently, local people’s life can get better clearly.
On the other hand, a portion of the population thinks that the government should invest more on the improving the road system, because a revised net of streets would make the cars’ flow smoother and, as a consequence, any movement would become less stressful for drivers, in particular at peak time. Also, these investments can give a consistent amount of work to the companies specialized in roadworks, helping the local economy.
In my opinion, both opinions aren’t totally incorrect and, in an ideal world, foundations and politicians should improve the two realities presented before. But, since the amount of funds that can be got is generally not enough for all the initiatives the government would like to start, I think that investing on public transport would be more effective, since with less funds a significant change can be seen in the daily routine of all people.
