Publics have differing views with regard to the question of whether people are gradually accustomed to dealing with issues that happen in their daily lives on their own. In my view, we become self-reliant on trivial things but need support when facing some complicated problems.
The proponents of the idea that people become more independent believe that the development of modern society and technology makes their lives easier. Various innovations that target to serve customers make daily routines easier so that one can manage on their own. There are special washing machines that are designed to clean fruit and dishes automatically. Housework can be done by robot. Moreover, the food delivery service saves people the trouble of cooking, as a healthy and affordable meal is only a click away. All of these services in society ensure that individuals can take care of themselves even if they live alone.
However, the economic pressure that the majority of people would experience in their lives can raise the demand for dependency. The rent of housing and utility bills can be extremely high in large cities. In this way, finding a roommate who can pay the bill together seems to be a feasible and less stressful solution. Another sign of the need for mutual support is that people in the workplace need to cooperate in order to accomplish a task. Every good plan or business was produced by a team. The only route to success is to work together and rely on each other.
To sum up, It seems logical that people are independent in terms of taking care of themselves, but when comes to work and living place, a level of dependency is necessary.
