Living in a house is preferred over apartments by some people due to the open spaces and freedom that it offers. But, others believe that apartments are more suitable for their needs. I my opinion, there are advantages to both types of living spaces along with some disadvantages as well which are discussed below.
A house is usually more open and spacious. There are separate spaces for parking cars and growing gardens. Furthermore, a house is more customisable according to the needs of the owner and can fit more members if they need to. Along with that, a house can provide passive income to its owner from rent, and it can be seen as an investment for longer term. However, as the demand for housing grows, the prices of these properties have increased significantly. Therefore, low income families are finding it difficult to buy their homes and looking for alternate places to live.
On the other hand, apartments are affordable and commonly built around city centres. The developers are able to make a number of home units from a single plot of land. So, they can keep the prices competitive and maintain built quality at the same time. Moreover, this space has most of the necessary amenities for a single person or a nuclear family looking for living space near the centres of cities. Living in these locations can cut down the time travelled from house to work for people employed in down town regions.
To conclude, although there are several benefits of owning a house over an apartment but, for certain individuals living in flats has their own advantages. So, it all boils down to the individual needs and preferences and, I believe people should do their own research to make a smart decision for their living space.
