Nowadays, part of the society thinks that in order to teach the children in their early to differentiate good and bad behaviors, it is essential for parents and teachers to be allowed to punish them. In my opinion I totally agree to that viewpoint because without this children will continue to misbehave when they grow up. This essay will discuss that punishment is needed, but with out using it’s physical form.
While some people refuse any penalty for young boys and girls, many and I are convinced that it is crucial in rearing them. This is because, in the first years of life, they cannot differentiate between right and the wrong actions and their consequences. Thus the only way for them to learn that is through punishment. For instance, if a child lied to his parents and was punished for that, he will never repeat the same action and will learn to be honest. Moreover, in school, educators must do the same for their students, regarding their study, in order to help them to succeed.
On the other hand, while punishment is useful, the physical forms of it should not be accepted both at home and in the educational establishments. In other words, mothers and fathers are supposed to use penalties like home detention on week ends, preventing them from using gadgets and not giving them pocket money rather than hitting them to avoid any negative psychological effect to their young family members. In South Africa, for example, there is a large number of youngsters with psychological troubles because their families use physical punishments. Furthermore, teachers are supposed to use only school detention for the same reason.
In conclusion, proponents and I believe that penalizing pupils and children can help in guiding them to have a good manners and to succeed in their study. However, custodians and educators should use only the non-physical forms of it.
