Band 6+: Some people believe that it is wrong to keep animals in zoos. Discuss both view and give your opinion

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In this day and age, most people around the world have the opinion that keeping animals in zoos is wrong and has a negative impact on them. Let us discuss some of the issues in the above situation and reasonable practical ways to resolve this issue.

There are several prominent reasons behind keeping animals in zoos and the serious problems they bring. The first and most notable thing is that the physical and psychological health of animals is adversely affected when kept in zoos. An example to illustrate that problem is that some animals such as elephants or monkeys hurt themselves by banging their heads against the wall. Furthermore, some predatory animals such as tigers and lions lose their natural survival ability when returning to the forest. The simple reason for this problem is that being kept in captivity stresses them out and creates a habit for animals to rely on humans.

Another contributing factor is other related issues such as money and effort. If a zoo wants to operate, it needs to have maintenance costs such as: food, facilities, medicine or medical examination for animals. Besides, this also becomes the reason why animals become a money-making tool for zoo owners

In my opinion, keeping animals in zoos is not illegal but it is also not a good idea. Instead we can conserve them better by creating National Parks, the government can ensure that all animals have wild habitats that help them thrive in a natural way possible. When animals live there, they can live according to their natural instincts and are more free and comfortable. Specifically, national parks help the government limit other costs and reduce effort in taking care of them. Currently, our country has Cuc Phuong National Park, which is being promoted by the government to preserve and raise animals, reducing many unnecessary problems.
