People have different perspectives regarding whether local news is more crucial than news from abroad or not. From my perspective, it seems to me that domestic news is more significant.
On the one hand, those who claim that international stories are more important have their own reasons. Initially, headlines from abroad might provide many details for citizens about the world’s economy and the financial status of many companies around the world. Thus, people may be able to decide their investments according to this valuable data. Moreover, international stories could provide updated details about what is currently happening everywhere. Therefore, people can feel reassured about their family, friends and loved ones.
On the other hand, I would side with those who believe that local news is more significant for many reasons. Firstly, citizens might be interested in news that might affect their lives. For instance, many people could be attracted to headlines about the hike in carbon tax and how this might remarkably affect their lives and increase their life expenses, which could be detected in the increase in prices of renting, groceries and fuel. Secondly, local residents may be captivated by news about the climate changes and natural catastrophes in their country. To illustrate, most local people usually read the news about summer forest fires to protect themselves and their families as well as get details about the percentages of pollution and air quality.
By way of conclusion, despite the fact that international stories are critical for many people, I hold the notion that local news could have more significance.
