Few people claim that the modern technology has made the hard copies of knowledge unimportant, I certain disagree with it. This essay covers both the views and my opinion.
Being in the 20th century, we see a lot of people, especially the kids holding on to their gadgets for a longer period of time, make them unproductive, reducing their cognitive skills, or making them couch potatoes. Modern technology would be a boon for people whom would like to have more exposure to the world, to understand how things work, or to develop their skills.
Reading books, newspapers, or magazines is essential for one’s development as it helps in developing their knowledge, skills or make them aware of things happening around them. By modernizing these, it will also help the people on-the-move not to pause their work. Though it has a fewer drawbacks like increased exposure of blue light emitted from the screens or making it low-valued as it will be available at our ease, only a lower proportion of people consider it. People having zeal to know values or to complete their work would take the help of technology to get things done.
For example, let’s compare me and my grandfather. As soon as my grandfather is off the bed, the first thing he would do it to collect the newspaper form the nearest local seller, and then start reading it to know the daily updates. Now me, though I get the daily updates from my grandfather before I leave to my college, I tend to have better updates than him as I will also be following the online version which will be updated every minute. Where as my grandfather would be still following the older news and think it is still true while the world is changing so fast. After this experience, I had to purchase a big good mobile which makes him easier to use and also get the latest updates as soon as they are in-air. My grandfather would be looking into the online version only twice or thrice a day as the longer he focuses the more his eyes get strained.
To summarize, even though the modern technology could make the newspapers, magazines or books unimportant. In my opinion, it would definitely help the people who know the value of it.
