Nowadays, technology plays a very important role in people’s life. Some individuals believe that development of modern technology makes people less social because they spend more time using electronic devices. I partly agree with this opinion, as I think technology has both advantages and disadvantages for human communication.
On the one hand, there is no doubt that many people are becoming less sociable due to overusing technology. For example, some teenagers prefer to stay at home and play computer games or watch videos on YouTube instead of meeting their friends in real life. Social media also can create a situation when people communicate only online without real communication. It is especially harmful for young people who need to develop social skills and learn how to talk with others face to face.
On the other hand, I believe that technology also has a lot of positive effects on communication. Firstly, it helps people who live in different cities or even countries to keep in touch. For instance, many families use video calls to speak with relatives who live abroad. Secondly, thanks to social media, people can make new friends from different parts of the world and learn about other cultures. In addition, modern technology help to organize events, group chats, and meetings which is very useful in our busy life.
In conclusion, I believe that technology can have both negative and positive impact on people’s communication. It depends on how a person use it. If people spend all their time on the phone, of course they will become less social. But if they use technology smartly, it can really help them to stay connected and improve their social life.
