It is generally considered that news and media play an important role in our society because they can help us stay informed about essential issues. However, there are people who believe that the news often can be fake and that it can lead to public panic. This essay supports the former position. Both sides of the argument will be explored in this essay.
To begin, some people assert that the news provides us with crucial information about various events and issues. It means that news helps us to understand more about our lives. For example, sometimes we hear about wars and conflicts among leaders of different countries and see that these situations can lead to economic problems and social panic. Because of this, we can think about these consequences and make more rational decisions. For instance, in democratic countries, people can influence leaders’ solutions to various political problems and make their lives happier and safer. Frankly, I agree that the news plays an important role in our world, since people can improve their lives because of examples that they do not want to repeat.
However, those who oppose this opinion believe that news often can lead to misinformation. Because of this, such people prefer to be skeptical about new information provided by various media sources. That behavior helps them feel calm and it is really necessary nowadays, when there is much new information around us. Statistically, many youngsters often feel nervous without any reason. Experts consider that a lot of extra information affects this.
Taking all of the above into consideration, there are differing views on the issue of news and media importance. While some believe it is a significant part of our lives, others argue that sources of new information can often be misleading. In my personal view, I am persuaded that the former position is more sensible, since people should know about others’ mistakes and draw conclusions about their life.
