There is an ongoing argument about whether pollution and environmental crises are due to a developing economy and increasing national wealth; others argue that these problems cannot be solved. While I believe that economic growth leads to the unavoidable problems such as high risk of diseases and damage to animals and green spaces , I also agree that unless private car use is reduced and investments in urban green spaces are increased, environmental pollution will inevitably escalate.
On the one hand, economic development often causes incurable diseases. This is because air pollution contains harmful toxins and pollutants generated by the high number of vehicles. For instance, in Armenia in the last few years the risk of pollution increased dramatically, and pollution damage was higher than normal, primarily caused by expanding construction and high traffic density. Additionally, rising living standards have exacerbated the destruction of forest ecosystems. This is largely because for producing costly items people cut trees and use natural animal leather. For example, the high number of rare animals decline dramatically, for getting money people use natural animals such as making meat or clothes. As a result, the country attained financial stability, but the number of species decreased which made animals survive for their lives.
On the other hand, these problems cannot be avoided if governments should not decrease the usage of private vehicles. One possible explanation is that people use vehicles to move from one point to another quickly, so reducing cars easily will be difficult for people. For instance, in some European countries the number of private vehicles decline steadily which leads to the increasing number of green spaces, rare species and healthy people. So other countries should try to decrease the usage of private vehicles steadily to make the planet cleaner. In addition, if authorities should not increase investments in urban green spaces, environmental pollution risk may increase. This is because authorities underrate the green spaces in different areas of the country, that’s why problems cannot be avoided. As a result, unless governments actively promote public transportation and expand urban parks, environmental problems will remain completely unavoidable.
In conclusion, although economic growth can cause pollution and harm to nature, I believe these problems can be avoided, I believe that at the same time using private cars less and building more green spaces, governments can protect the environment while developing the economy.
