When a country becomes more developed and wealthy, the level of pollution may increase.Some people believe that this is necessary result of economic development.However, I completely disagree with this view because governments can use cleaner technologies and introduce strict environmental laws.
Firstly, countries can use cleaner technologies to reduce pollution. When the cities is developing, they need a lot of energy for fabrics, transports and houses. But instead of coal and oil they can use solar and wind energy. For instance, government can build solar and wind power stations instead of new coal-fired power plants.Also, as the country develops, more houses and offices are built.Government can demand to use ecological materials and energy-effective buildings.It can decrease amount of energy and sources, which used in building,
Moreover, instead of people buying more private cars, the government can develop public transport. When country become wealthier, number of cars usually increases, which cause traffic jams and air pollution. If government allocate money into busses, metro and electro busses, people will be able to use presonal cars less. For instance, they can built a new system of metro and add more electro busses.Furthermore, economical grpwth increase amount of industrial enterprises.Government can require from fabric to clean industrial wastewater before its discharge.This prevents the pollution of rivers and lakes.
In conclusion, I believe that environmental problems can be reduced even when a country becomes richer. Governments can use modern technologies, improve public transport and control industrial activities.
