One of the most pressing issues in modern society is the debate of providing local transportation free of cost to solve the traffic jam issue, as it significantly impacts the regular activities of general people. While it can be argued that vehicles used by the public should be provided free of charge, another opinion is that other solutions must be found to eradicate the traffic congestion issue. In this essay, I will examine both sides of the arguments and explain why I agree with the notion that public transportation should be charge-free for everybody.
Generally speaking, there are a wide variety of reasons why people believe that public vehicles should be provided for individuals to go to their desired places. Perhaps the main reason why people are in favor of cost-free vehicle service is because more people, including both lower and middle-class families, will use public buses or trains rather than private cars, which will definitely help to reduce traffic jams during peak hours as less private vehicles will be utilized. It is not unknown that vehicles emit dangerous carbon into the atmosphere, which ultimately pollutes the environment. So, it can be said that the more people use public transportation, the less likely pollution will occur.
On the flip side, there are also strong arguments for the idea that it is not possible to eradicate traffic jams by providing free transportation. The primary reason why people think that free transportation is useless is because many people will tend to use it at first, but soon, due to the limited vehicles compared to the population, individuals will be less attracted to the public transport sector. One more reason to support this idea is that the government will lose a lot of taxes from the private car sector.
In conclusion, the notion that to reduce traffic problems on roads, public vehicles should be free of charge, is indeed agreeable based on the discussions provided above. I believe that the aforementioned points strongly support my viewpoint, establishing that a cost-free transportation system holds more merit in the context of encouraging individuals to avoid private vehicles.
