Several people think that education should aim to elevate people to meet societal needs; however, others believe that it should focus on helping individuals fulfill their aspirations. In my opinion, although the latter notion is reasonable for creating a happy life for people, the former one is better, as it can not only preserve cultural heritage but also enhance a sustainable economy.
On the one hand, the statement that the purpose of education should be helping people to follow their dreams may point out that it can assist them in creating a happy life. This is because everyone can have their own unique ambitions; thus, education should assist them in recognizing their abilities by helping people to understand their strengths and weaknesses. Indeed, education can cultivate human potential, creating opportunities for individuals to pursue their passions, paving the way to success. As a consequence, people can find their own unique aspirations and have a wise choice about their careers, helping them to live a meaningful life. For example, Seoul National University in South Korea created curricula and methods that can help students understand and enhance their strength alongside their teachers. As a result, the majority of students can elevate their abilities and find jobs that align with their passions after school. In addition, they can follow their own ideals and live a happy life.
On the other hand, I believe that education should focus on educating people to become useful for society. The reason is that everyone can eventually be part of a community; thus, education should aim to elevate personal skills, particularly in key fields such as culture and economy, to contribute to fostering social advancement. This could, in turn, not only preserve and promote cultural heritage but also support economic sustainability in society. For instance, the Hai Duong Department of Education and Training launched several policies that focus heavily on improving literacy and cultural subjects in 2015. This action raised awareness about local culture among students, helping them to protect and promote cultural heritage. Hai Duong consequently developed significantly, becoming one of the rapidly developing regions in Vietnam in 2015.
In conclusion, although everyone can have their own unique passions, I believe that education should be aimed to elevate personal skills to meet societal needs, as it can not only preserve local culture but also enhance a sustainable economy.
