Band 5+: Some people believe that school molds the intellect and skills and not the virtues and attitudes of its students. Do you agree or disagree? Give examples based on your own knowledge and experience.

Education is the most powerful technique to change humanity, it can transform life at its best, it can change everything. Furthermore, some people conclude the idea that schools’ fundamental task and focus is to expand people’s knowledge and intellectual ability. Hence, overlooked the significance of learning proper values and right attitude. However, I do not hold the same view.

Teaching is crucial, it is not an easy task, It follows a certain standard in teaching students with the needed skills and theories essential to succeed both in school and life. Additionally, schools certainly pave the way for someone to become a better version of themselves. While teachers have set of rules and instructions that guides them in making teaching and learning process smooth and effective, it opens a wide range of opportunities to explore things and enhance our hidden skills and talents such as demonstrating acquired knowledge and skills for example teaching first aid among grade 9 students, put into practice an active lifestyle or even performing the basics of piano. This could be a lifelong learning that can apply in real life scenario in the future.

Moreover, with consideration to morals, a keen observation and reflective attitude are required. It is obvious that values and attitudes were also incorporated into the given instructions when teachers were teaching skills and theories. Trained the children about certain rules to follow, directions in exams, performances, or criteria that regulate actions, making them understand that everything has limits. It is an innate unconscious learnings applied in school and most especially at home. Furthermore, respecting and understanding each others differences was unconsciously expressed through recognition of each others accomplishment. Above all, inculcating that even coming from different races, cultures, values, and beliefs, we all should be equally treated in accordance to their racial origin.

In conclusion, schools teach the individual holistically. In my own point of view, it doesn’t focus on just one intelligence but influences all the aspects of human beings. Ultimately, education plays a major role in developing and shaping one’s personality and preparing an individual for life. Notably, it is the best platform for molding us intellectually or morally.
