Many people argue about what schools should teach. Some think practical skills for jobs are the most important, while others believe academic knowledge is better. In my opinion, both are very important. Practical skills help students get jobs easily, but academic knowledge gives them a strong base for their whole life.

On the one hand, practical skills are very useful for students. In today’s job market, just reading books is not enough. Companies, like banks or public offices, want to hire people who can do the work right away. For example, knowing how to use computer programs or how to talk to customers are very helpful skills. If schools teach these practical things, students can adapt to their new workplaces much faster.

On the other hand, academic knowledge is also essential. It helps students develop deep thinking and problemsolving skills. For instance, if a student wants to work in finance, they need to study basic economics and investment theories first. Without this basic knowledge, it is hard to understand big problems or learn new things in the future.

Therefore, academic study is the root that helps people grow in their careers. In conclusion, both practical skills and academic knowledge are necessary. Schools should teach practical skills to prepare students for their first jobs, but they must also teach academic subjects to help them think deeply. The best education should have a good balance of both.
