Nowadays, many people believe that school should teach practical knowledge, while others argue that education system should concentrate more on teaching theoretical courses. One fosters analytical skills and the other prepares one for both hard and soft skills.
On the first hand, academic subjects are the base in learning process. If the foundation of core courses is not strong enough, students would find it difficult to comprehend basic questions as they progress. For instance, a Chartered Accountant needs to know basic mathematical principles, before they start learning accounts, otherwise, even summation of numbers would be challenging for them. Theoretical knowledge teaches analytical skills to an individual.
On the other hand, with the current development in the field of education, using Artificial Intelligence helps students to learn in real-time scenarios. Practical knowledge prepares us for the challenges we would face in the real-world. For example, in order to learn teamwork, one needs to work in a team, so group projects prepare us for it. We meet different people, with various working styles and learn many soft skills which can’t be taught through books. They teach us how resolve disputes in a group.
To summarise, both practical and theoretical knowledge are important as it shapes us as an individual, one creates the foundation while the other prepares us for the real-world. In my opinion, both are equally crucial, when implemented through a planned process, it would create a perfect balance, which will be beneficial for students to significantly improve themselves.
