In the recent years,the use of social media has become prevelant all over the world.In as much as this is a positve development for people across borders can keep in touch and we can be conversant with what is happening beyond borders,it has proven to have negative cosequences on how people relate to each other.This essay will delve on both the advantages and disadvantages of social media.

To begin with,social media has made communication possible between family members and friends .Nowadays acquiantances are just a phone call way.Availability of applications like TikTok,whats app and Facebook aid us in knowing how they are fairing on events can also be planned using these applications without necessarily having to travel which can prove to be costly.

In addition,social media ensures people are updated on happenings from far and wide.Through various applications,one is updated on real time events because it takes only a click of a button to pass information.Not only have good incidences been reported through social media but also but also the ills in a society that requires urgent intervention from concerned authorities.With these the world has been made global.

On the other hand,this technology has messed human relations alot.This is so because most people do not see the necesity of meeting up with friends and family just because they talked on phone.Communicating through social media does not always seem real because it denies one the value of empathy that can only be acheived in communicating one on one.Parents have bore the brunt of this for children nolonger see the need to visit them.

To sum up,it is evident that as much as social media has its pros it has cons.Individuals should strive to find a balance for it to serve its intended purpose.
