Some people argue that universities should accept students only with high grades. According to them, those who work hard in order to achieve their goals get high scores. Only such talented pioneers deserves higher qualification. These brilliant students have ability to face the difficult situations and get succeed in life. According to them, if universities allow all type of students to get admission, it should be abject failure to the reputation of university.
Another group of people believe that all type of students deserve to get admission in universities especially in public sector universities regardless of their grades. There should be no merit or any type of criteria for getting admission. Only grades can’t decide their future. The supporters of this statement thinks that if don’t allow the lower grade students to get higher studies then they will indulge in other activities which may be harmful for them as well as for their society. As a result, they will destroy their life.
In my opinion, universities should strike a balance for admission. I personally know a boy who was very talented and hardworking. He used to get higher marks in all examinations. In his intermediate exams he can not perform well because of health issues. He went through major surgery only few days before exams. As a result, he was unable to achieve outstanding marks. After result, when he applied in public sector universities, no one gave him admission. His parents could not afford the expenses of private universities and now he is selling toys to support his family. So, according to me, merit should not be too much high. Moreover, there should also be some courses for low grade students.
