Some people are of the opinion that sports play a crucial role in encouraging peace and understanding between countries. However, others oppose this idea, claiming that international relations are little affected by sports and may even worsen as a result. From my perspective, sports help improve relationships between nations, making them more connected and bringing people closer together.
On the one hand, sports are essential for improving relationships between countries, as they bring each nation’s image to the world. Moreover, national flags and identities can be seen by people who are sports fans worldwide. In addition, creating competitions between countries promotes peace, showcases sportsmanship, and attracts tourists who get to know the image of a peaceful country. For example, Vietnam is known for its image of enthusiastic fans celebrating with the national flag after winning the ASEAN Cup 2025. This event was broadcast by global channels, showing that the Vietnamese people love their nation and peace.
On the other hand, sports in the developing world are one of the factors influencing international relations. They not only enhance relationships between governments but also bring fans closer together. Nowadays, sports such as football are used to show respect between governments. For example, the European Football Foundation always has signatures from national teams, and the stronger teams attract more fans, such as England and Portugal, who have many fans around the world. These fans also have the opportunity to discover the history and culture of these countries.
In conclusion, my firm conviction is that sports play a vital role in promoting peace and understanding between nations, rather than exacerbating tensions, by improving international relations and showing peace through the image of sportsmanship. In the future, sports should be given priority and expanded to have a greater global impact.
