In today’s globalised world, the importance of studying international news among students has drawn many attractions. While some argue that pupils should be taught international news as a subject at schools, other suppose that this would be time-inefficient. From my perspective, students should be accessed to international news but in appropriate level.
On the one hand, proponents contended that introducing international as a main subject may divert valuable time from core academic subject can be attributed to some reasons. In schools, student are usually taught some subjects which relevant to their careers such as mathematics, literature and some people think that school curriculum is overloaded. Therefore, introducing international news into the curriculum is unnecessary. Furthermore, some international artiles involves negative and heartbreaking contents have affect significantly on people as they are not still mature. For example, learning global news related to war attack which have some violent images, can be offensive and inappropriate for students.
On the other hand, accesing to international news in an appropriate way can brings various benefits for students. In an increasingly interconnected world, being informed about multinational news and issues can help student broaden their horizons and develop global perspective. For example, learning about climate change and global health crisis may make student more informed and responsible global citizens. This also boost their linguistic skills and stimulate critical thinking as they get access to many articles and many issues in diffirent languages. As a result, they may become more mature and develop their linguistic skill and analytical ability in a holistic way.
In conclusion, while the integration of international news to school is valuable, it should be taught in an appropriate level and I suppose that students should be taught global news in school and learn by their own at home as keeping informed in an interconnected world is significantly essential.
