Many proponents advocate against technological advancements in fields such as AI, due to the potential job shortage imparted by the increasing use of robots. However, others disagree, citing new job opportunities and an efficient workspace leading to economic growth due to enhanced efficiency. I believe that this trend will lead to an increased use of technology in daily tasks as well as open up a world of new opportunities for people, fostering a society where individuals embrace AI as a companion rather than a rival.
Artificial intelligence has come a long way, allowing people to smoothly integrate it into their lives and helping in their everyday tasks ranging from small tasks such as writing essays, providing feedback on various topics to some really high-level tasks such as programming or medical assistance. This development has instilled fear in some people that AI may replace the human workforce, being faster and more precise in doing a variety of tasks like performing surgery or developing a website, which otherwise would have taken hours of dedication.
However, AI as a technology has also opened up a lot of new pathways for people in a variety of fields, from engineering to healthcare, AI has made a significant impact, propelling the growth of humankind which, otherwise, would have seemed impossible. AI as a companion allows people to work more efficiently instead of taking over their jobs. However, just like with any other technology, some jobs are lost while a lot of new ones are created. For example, when the smartphone was introduced, allowing people to text at their convenience, the decline of post offices was exacerbated, but it also led to the establishment of some big companies such as WhatsApp and Facebook, thereby creating numerous amounts of job opportunities.
In conclusion, while it may seem that AI will be the cause of mass job displacement, it cannot be neglected that it has also resulted in the creation of an enormous amount of job roles such as AI prompt engineers, AI developers, and a variety of companies as well that are dependent on AI for their proper functioning.
