There is an opinion that technological progress, being involved in every sphere of people’s life, is able to spread it’s reign over humans. In opposite, some people say that overall progress of humanity is impossible without technology. Definetely, both sides are just longing for the bright future of our society, and I completely agree with the second point of view, because our species have been walking hand to hand with technology for more than twenty thousand years.
So, why are people so frightened of some digital devices these days? I suppose, the matter of this is in misunderstanding, lack of comprehensive information and a plenty of different rumors. Moreover, modern social media only enhances this fear by creating a lot conspyracy theories and transmitting them into wast masses of viewers. But this was true even before TV had emerged. For instance, first cars, trains or even vaccines were scary for many people of that time. Some labourers were crushing factories with the new machines in Britain. Nevertheless, now all of these inventions are casual things, and nobody yells at a car or a bus with fear.
Of course, some scientific researches have led to grim and tragic pages of our history, for example such things as nuclear bombs or ballistic rockets. But this is not about the evil scientists, who want to destroy humanity. The nuclear energy is the cleanest and the most effective source of electricity for our homes. A lot of former military inventions are used now as kitchen utilities. I am not sure, that my microwave oven wants to control the whole planet. Moreover, each subsequent step in scientific development makes the previous inventions cheaper and more affordable, and our everyday life easier. We can much quicker prepare food now, and products themselves can be preserved longer.
It is clear, that inventions can have diverse influence on our life. Be it the climate change, or enhanced cooking process. But, obviously, technology and development of mankind are bound together. So, we should not fear a technology itself, instead we must use it wisely.
