In case of road safety, what should be our policy? The writer stated two visible options. One option he mentioned is driver’s legal age and on the other hand, more effective measures other than legal age. Road safety is dependent on both of these. In light of this, both views are discussed below.
For day to day activity, vehicles have become our part and percel of our life. Cars or motorbikes facilitate our daily movement. These transportation systems helps us to minimize our wastage of time. But with the increase of these, we are encountering road safety issue more and more. As vehicles are getting faster day by day, we are getting more prone to road accidents. Speaking of the speed, it has been seen that under age people are more inclined to it. With the vigorousness of youth, they frequently speed up their vehicle. Besides, without proper maturity and training, their recklessness leads to unsafe road. It has been seen in teenagers that they try to race with each other often. Given that there are traffic rules they circumvent them at times. This is one of the reasons for unsafe roads. Moreover, as we know, a teenager is eligible for voting when he/she reaches at the age of eighteen. The reason behind this, by then he/she knows country’s different constitutional rules and regulations. The state ensures that he/she aware of country’s well being. Similarly, a teenager must go under same process about traffic regulations. It will make our road safer.
On the other hand, it is essential that the existing traffic rules are being enforced continuously. The punishment must be given if anyone break any rule. The refinement of existing regulations should be made depending on the scientific research and statastical data. Industrial and passanger road should be different with their construction philosophy. Speed limit is necessary where vehicle movement is frequent. More sophisticated technologies are required to use in cars and bikes to make sure passanger safety. With a view to achiving this goal, self-driving cars are being developed. Load carrying capacity minimization is compulsory to mitigate casuality.
Age limit is a major issue to deal. But other reasons play a vital role in road casuality. We can eliminate age limit with better safety rules and technology. So, my opinion lies with the later one.
