Many people believe that individuals should independently cover medical treatment fees. However, I disagree with this perspective, as not everyone can afford healthcare costs due to financial disparities. Moreover, the public has a collective responsibility to support those requiring special medical care.
On the one hand, encouraging people take the responsibility to take care of their own medical expenses promotes self-reliance, fostering the sense of responsibility, as individuals might be more conscious of their health choices. Additionally, requiring individuals to pay for their own healthcare could prevent overreliance on the government’s resources. Moreover, it may be considered unfair to impose taxes and additional expenses on others who struggle to meet their own needs.
However, this approach ignores the significant financial disparities that exist within society. Many people, especially those with lower incomes or chronic health issues, may not be able to afford even basic medical funding properly. This situation is unfair, since access to healthcare is a crucial human right. Therefore, the government should intervene to provide fundamental support to these people, ensuring that they can get the treatment they need without considering financial frustrations. In this sense, collective responsibility is the key to fostering a fairer society.
In conclusion, while personal responsibility in healthcare is important, I believe that individuals should not be expected to cover all the medical costs on their own. A system that supports those in need, funded by collective contributions, is not only fairer but also more suitable in the long run.
