In recent years, the issue of whether governments should allocate more resources to public transport or not has sparked a substantial debate. While some argue in favor of government investment in public transportation, I believe that there are more pressing needs of today’s society.

On the one hand, it is understandable why some people support the idea of investing in public transit. First and foremost, public transportation serves as a convenient and efficient means of transportation, enabling individuals to commute from one place to another without the need for a private vehicle. This convenience is particularly appealing to individuals with busy schedules or limited transportation options. Secondly, public transit offers a cost-effective mode of transportation compared to private cars or motorbikes. This is primarily due to the fact that the cost of public transit is not significantly higher than that of a private car or a motorbike.

However, I would argue that there is more pressing need of our society. One of the most compelling reasons why governments should prioritize the development of public transportation is the provision of more affordable and sustainable alternatives to private vehicles. For example, the proliferation of private vehicles such as motorcycles or cars has led to a decline in the number of individuals using public transportation. Furthermore, the construction and maintenance of public transport systems, such as buses, trains, and subways, necessitates substantial financial resources and a substantial investment in these areas.

In conclusion, while it is irrefutable that public transportation has become an integral part of our daily lives, I contend that the government should prioritize its investment in the development and provision of affordable alternatives for the needs of its citizens.
