There is an ongoing debate whether governments should prioritize funding public services like healthcare and education, aiming in satisfaction of social purposes, or invest in cultural areas such as arts and music. This essay strongly agrees with opinion that funding social services is more beneficial for society.
One significant advantage of financial support of public services is the improvement of citizens’ well-being. Increased funding for healthcare systems leads to better availability to medical facilities and treatment, which in turn creates a healthier population. Moreover, healthy nation is a key to increase birth rate, which is the paramount problem of the 21st century. For instance, Serbia government has significantly increased its investment in hospitals across the country, which resulted in a two-year increase in life expectancy.
Another compelling reason to prioritize public services is the improvement in literacy rates and educational opportunities. Enhanced education systems allow people to gain qualification and ensure employment, which helps reduce both unemployment and social anxiety. For example, in the first quarter of the 20th century Soviet Union government accepted the policy which focused on population literacy. The policy made up a major success with a 60 per cent reduction in unemployment in 10 years, as more citizens got access to education.
In conclusion, investing in social spheres like healthcare and education is crucial for both nation and state development. These areas not only ensure a healthier and more educated population but also lead to economic stability and social well-being. Therefore, funding public services should take priority over investments in cultural area.
