Some believe that the government should care for people and provide financial support during retirement, while others argue that individuals should save during their working years to prepare for retirement.
It is true that the government has a responsibility to care for people as they retire, especially since individuals tend to become both weaker and older with time. On one hand, retirees may struggle to return to their previous jobs due to a decline in professional skills.
On the other hand, some individuals continue to work in their fields because their jobs do not require government contracts or specific age-related qualifications. Jobs like supermarket cashier or house cleaner do not necessitate particular skills tied to a certain age. Interestingly, many people feel as youthful as 20 or 25, even if they are actually 55 or 60 years old.
As for me, I completely disagree with the notion that financial support should not be provided. The government has a responsibility to assist those who are retired and unemployed. However, I understand that some retirees continue to work for various reasons. Firstly, they may need extra income because their retirement savings are insufficient. Secondly, many individuals have a strong work ethic instilled in them from childhood, teaching them the value of hard work and helping others. Lastly, some people simply enjoy their jobs and are reluctant to change careers.
In conclusion, while there are retirees who continue to enjoy working, there are also those who genuinely struggle with health issues. Ultimately, the decision to work or retire should depend on an individual’s circumstances, mindset, and health. I believe people should have the freedom to choose whether to work and fund their own retirement or to stop working and rely on government support.
