Today’s world marks the inception of the digital age; therefore, education has become integrated with technology. Some individuals hold the belief that this kind of technology has enhanced the quality of education. While others argue that it has bring about several detrimental affects that outweigh its benefits. From my perspective, I strongly agree with the former statement for the following reasons below.
On the one hand, utilizing technology for educational purposes might provides endless advantageous. To begin with, learners can make use of high-tech programs or websites to personalize their studying. In other words, when they encounter challenging assignments and cannot come up with compatible solutions, they can use technology as a helper so as to solve the problem in the most effective way. This means that learners can also study in their own pace, preventing them from facing peer pressure. Another worth mentioning merit is that learners are exposed to a wide range of invaluable information online. As a result, they can broaden their knowledge as well as being updated.
On the other hand, applying technology in learning process can have some negative consequences. Firstly, learners who are overusing technology tend to rely on it for their tasks given at school. Consequently, they may lack critical thinking and losing creativity. Another notable downside is that learners often lose concentration when using technology to study. This is because instant messages and notifications from social media platforms such as Facebook, Messenger or Twitter may distract them from their works.
In conclusion, despite some potential negative effects, I remained convinced that the advantages of technology in education are of greater importance.
