As a matter of fact, the purpose of education is an arguable subject. While many people claim that education is intended to benefit the community, I agree with those who believe education should serve as a means of following personal ambitions.
On the one hand, governments allocate a huge amount of money to improve the quality of teaching at academic places such as schools and universities. Thus, it could be acceptable to expect students to contribute economically. For instance, students can start a new business after graduating, or they can work as employees to use their knowledge for improvements and developments of their country. In addition, literacy may enable individuals to contribute to society at vital moments such as the spread of the Corona virus which doctors and nurses played an undeniable role in saving lives.
On the other hand, as people themselves choose to be educated, so they have the right to pursue their personal goals as well. More importantly, if the purpose of education was only serving to society, Indeed less people would choose to get academic certifications which might resulted in a significant lack of literacy among people. Besides, if graduates were solely focused on themselves rather than seeking employment or serving their community, they would be able to obtain valuable experiences. This could be explained by immigrating to another country or winning a solitary achievement such as being a grandmaster in chess or discovering new medicines.
In conclusion, although both being useful for country and chasing the personal dreams and goals have their own implications, it seems to me that the purpose of education is to follow personal ambitions.
