Some people are of the opinion that the primary objective of education is to cultivate individual contribution to society. Others, in contrast, believe that pursuing personal achievements is the main goal of education. This essay analyzes both sides of the argument before my personal perspective provided.
On the one hand, the aim of education is believed to help people be more responsible and helpful to society. Education, the environment for enhancing social interactions between teachers, students and peers, equipping students with systems of lessons and assignments of various subjects and fields. Therefore, those who have acquired essential skills and knowledge will grasp a general understanding of the world, develop acceptable manners & ethical values, foster empathy and so on, meaning that they will become helpful and sociable citizens, maintaining a harmonious community.
On the other hand, others argue that individuals are mainly educated in order to fulfill their personal goals. Being provided with in-depth knowledge and skills in various fields, students easily get qualifications which can help them to embark on their wanted career, especially demanding jobs such as doctors, researcher, scientists. Moreover, a well-rounded education increases job and personal opportunities may empower individuals to reach their full potential, thereby enabling them to acquire greater self-fulfillment. This empowerment will shape their future on their own terms thanks to higher confidence and financial independence.
In conclusion, weighing both views, I personally believe that education is not the only way to achieve aspirations, but the best option to nurture a better person for not only themselves but also society as a whole. Therefore, it is advisable for people to pursue education in the right way for a better future.
