It is widely assumed that tourism is expanding around the world. There is a prevailing view that some people consider that tourism has many negative impacts rather than positive ones. I cannot approve that tourism is more harmful. This essay will examine both the benefits and drawbacks of the ongoing debate, namely, environmental and biodiversity damage, and financial growth that can be specifically posed.
A key concern regarding this so-called tourism is the environmental damage. Many countries have experienced that tourism often puts much pressure on natural resources, encompassing water and oil through over-consumption. Although having consumed or wasted a myriad of natural resources, in many countries this may sharply contribute to the scarcity. Simultaneously, the loss of biodiversity surrounding tourism is another reason for the harmfulness. Admittedly, clearing lands for the development of tourist attractions and through physical disturbance to sensitive areas caused by tourism activities. It can be mentioned that it will easily lead to deforestation, which means cutting down the trees for the land damages the environment and leads to killing wild animals.
In my opinion, however, as long as these national income and job opportunities provide several benefits, they should be promoted rather than condemned. One of the unique advantages they offer is their role as national income, which is happening in many countries propelled by tourism that makes larger proportions. It is no secret that a huge number of visitors is the main cause of the making much money for the countries’ growth. Additionally, it creates employment opportunities which provide crucial support and services to the primary tourism providers. It is evident from these factors that job creation can easily lead to financial growth and shortages in the number of unemployed people in the country.
In conclusion, while tourism is having several detrimental effects on the environment, this is not sufficient grounds for halting the touristic actions. Instead, the outstanding information they offer, such as employment opportunities and income growth could be better, and assist in forgetting about the drawbacks of tourism.
