Band 7+: Some people believe that traditional exams are a fair way to assess students' knowledge, while others think that continual assessment such as coursework and projects is more effective. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The opinion that taking exams is the best way to measure the abilities of students is believed by many people, whereas other people think that several exams during preparation are much better. Even though passing assessments several times is a good way to prepare, from my point of view, passing only final exams is better.

On one hand, continuous assessments make students more confident. Students understand topics, learn to solve difficult questions, and get used to the exam format by taking exams several times until the final one. For example, during preparation for IELTS and SAT exams, students must pass numerous exams to make sure that they can use the platform and tools and train their speed and knowledge. That is why lots of people have a strong positive opinion about continuous exams.

On the other hand, final exams are less stressful. While students prepare for exams, they need to study more, ask questions from teachers, and try not to be under stress. For example, at the end of the midterms, students have to pass final exams, so they need to be more confident about their knowledge. If they pass assessments in the middle of the preparation, they can become more stressful, because they may not solve some questions and think about them before the finals, struggle with them, and be under stress. Therefore, several people chose passing only final exams.

In conclusion, even though continuous exams give more chances to understand themes, in my view, being less stressed by passing only final exams is much better.
