Nowadays, some individuals suppose that violence on television and in computer games has a negative impact on the environment. On the contrary, others consider that such statements have a decisive influence on human behavior. Personally, I believe that exposure to violence in the media can have harmful effects, especially on young people.
Currently, many people argue that television programmes and computer games encourage aggressive behaviour, moreover the most effect noticeably on children and teenagers because they often imitate what they see. Therefore, if kids spend many hours watching violent films or playing violent games, they may begin to think that aggressiveness is a normal way to solve issues or conflicts. Furthermore, constant exposure to violent scenes can make people less sensitive to suffering to other individuals. As a result of these manipulations, people and children may show less empathy and become more likely to behave aggressively in real life.
Another reason is that violent television programmes and computer games can negatively affect mental health, due to constant exposure to violent scenes which may increase stress, fear and anxiety. Moreover, people may find it more difficult to stay calm and deal with challenges peacefully. Therefore, spending too much time on playing violent computer games can reduce opportunities to develop useful skills, because today a lot of children spend hours in front of screens instead of studying, exercising or communicating with family and friends. Consequently, this may have a negative impact on both their behaviour and personal development.
In conclusion, I believe that violence on television and in computer games has a negative impact on society. Therefore, parents and government should take steps to reduce young people’s exposure to violent content.
