Recently, people argue that some violent scenes on television and in video games have negative effects on society; otherwise, others claim that those points of view will affect people’s actions. Overall, I think that violent factors in mass media can have both pros and cons in influencing society.
First of all, it is generally thought that violence shown in television or games can make people get angry easier, especially for teenagers. Furthermore, when those people face problems, it may probably be the case that they have violence to solve the matters unconsciously.
However, there are some merits of watching violent scenes. For instance, teenagers can be affected easily by video games, though most adults will not be. This is because they have the ability to distinguish between fiction and reality. Children need to acquire this skill throughout their growing process.
In my perspective, violence on television and games can have negative effects on children’s growth; though, at the same time, it can be an opportunity for them to learn to separate games from their lives. In addition, if parents let their children experience violent content in moderation, it can sometimes be a way to relieve their stress.
To conclude, even watching violence on television or in computer games may form teenagers’ aggressive behaviours, it can have a positive effect by using it as a tool to weaken their stress. Finally, in my opinion, giving an opportunity for children to experience violence in fiction will have significant influence for their growth.
