Some people believe that violence shown on television and in computer games has a harmful effect on society, while others argue that it does not significantly influence people’s behaviour. In my opinion, although violent media may affect certain individuals, especially young viewers, it is not the main factor that causes violent behaviour in society.

On the one hand, exposure to violent content may influence the attitudes and behaviour of children and teenagers. Young people are often impressionable and may imitate what they see in movies, television programs, or video games. For example, games that reward players for aggressive actions may make violence appear acceptable or even entertaining. In addition, different types of violence – such as realistic violence in movies or interactive violence in video games – may affect people differently. Interactive games, in particular, may have a stronger influence because players actively participate in the violent actions rather than simply watching them.

On the other hand, many researchers argue that media violence alone cannot cause aggressive behaviour. Millions of people regularly watch action films or play violent games without becoming violent themselves. This suggests that other factors, such as family environment, education, personality, and social conditions, play a much more important role. For instance, individuals raised in a supportive and stable family are less likely to develop aggressive tendencies, regardless of the media they consume.

In conclusion, while violence in television and computer games may have some influence on certain individuals, especially younger audiences, it should not be considered the main cause of violence in society. Social, psychological, and environmental factors have a far greater impact on people’s behaviour.
