Band 6+: Some people believe that young people should take a gap year before entering university, while others think they should continue their education immediately. Discuss both views and give your own opinion

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In recent years, the issue of effectiveness of gap year before starting university has become increasingly controversial. Some individuals believe that gap year is highly beneficial to gain experience, while others argue that it can interrupt students’ future goal form their academic performance. This essay will examine both sides of the argument before giving my own viewpoint.

On the one hand, gap year can significantly contribute to rising independence, since they have to cope with various challenges. For example, financial aid, where students should learn how to manage their wallet in appropriate way, depending on the circumstances. As a result, pupils may boost their confidence by making decisions based on their own effort. Furthermore, through travelling or volunteering students can experience with different types of activities, gaining a new experience in fields that they did not even imagine.

On the other hand, opponents of a gap year argue that it might have its negative effects on individual, thereby students should continue their education immediately. They contend that taking a break can interrupt academic progress and reduce individuals motivation. This is because some pupils may lose focus and find it difficult to return to training after a long period. Additionally, students may lose their future goal, as they did not have a clear one.

To draw a conclusion, a gap year can have positive impact on students, provided that it is well-planned and used productively; but, it may be harmful without clear goals. While both sides of the argument have valid points, I firmly believe that pupils should consider a gap year with a careful assessment.
