While some people think that young individuals should enroll in college instantly after finishing high school, others believe that it is better to take a pause year break to work or travel before studying in university. While both views have merit, I recommend taking a gap year since it can foster individuals to find their own interest and can benefit their future career path.
On the one hand, there is a strong reason why going straight to university makes it quicker for students’ to complete their degree. Students can study continuously, so they can study to pursue a high level of degree faster because they do not take a rest. Many studies show that students want to quickly complete their graduation at a higher level such as a Master’s degree for making an interesting resume to apply for work.
On the other hand, those who believe that taking a gap stop before enrolling in university also have a valid point, and I agree with them. Many students might not yet find their career path, which is essential for their future. Therefore, a gap break is a time to find their own interest before enrolling in university courses. For example, some teenagers hesitate to choose their field between medical or engineering, so the pause year is the time for finding their own favourite by working or trainee.
In conclusion, although applying instantly to college can help individuals collect their degree faster, I believe that taking a gap year break is a more effective way overall.
