Over the years, some people believe that the elderly should receive national subsidies after retirement while others argue that they should develop financial background on their own. From my perspective, while the former idea seems practical, post-retirees had better create their own savings for the likelihood of living independently for the rest of their lives.
On the one hand, there are some reasons as to why the government should take the responsibility of providing pensions to their retirees. The most striking point is about showing governmental acknowledgement to their workers for years of sacrifices and contributions. As the population ages, they should receive monetary support to pay for robust health care systems and basic necessities. Thereby, the government can foster national prestige and loyalty among their contributors. Another reason is to support senior workers who are on the verge of being unemployed after retirement. Thus, the national budget allocated to the living standard of their workers can be considered as ethical manners of governmental systems.
On the other hand, there are some reasons why older people should organize their own financial setting instead of solely depending on vouchsafed pensions. Initially, national purses are insufficient to guarantee the senior’s fulfillment to every extent of life for many other priorities and concerns that need to be tackled such as education, medical systems or insurance. Being financially independent enables those retirees to fully reap the beauty of their surroundings. Furthermore, this can help reduce the burden on the descendants. It is because youngsters, in this day and age, find it challenging to balance work life between personal life since shouldering the responsibility of taking care of family units. If the seniors can settle financially, the young generations will have more time for meditation or participating in recreational activities. All of which help ameliorate mental and physical well-being of youngsters.
To conclude, while some advocate that the government should support retirees financially, others believe that they should personally earn money even when getting old. On a nuanced viewpoint, both ideas seem feasible in the way that older workers should receive pensions as the way to show some respect and recognition for their contribution, whereas they should create their own budget in order to live independently.
