Some argue that education systems should aim to support their students to turn into a person who will contribute to the development of society in the future. However, there are some suggestions that the primary target of education is serving students to reach personal success. Although both arguments have merit, I strongly believe that helping individuals become a good member of society is the main reason why schools are formed. Due to many aspects of education such as encouraging students to take part in social activities and improving their awareness of society.
There is evidence that supports the idea that schools should mainly focus on helping their students to get personal achievement. What stands out first is that school is a place that supports students to navigate their career path in the future. In detail, By means of teaching students, teachers can assess the ability of each individual as a way to give some advice with regard to their job after graduating. For example, to some students, who usually gain high scores in math, they always are expected to follow occupations relating to technology or research.
Despite the argument above, for many reasons, I think that the main purpose of education should be allocated primarily to turning students into useful members of society, who bring many benefits to their community. It can be seen obviously that students usually are stimulated by schools to participate in social activities, involving growing trees in the public or making charity. For example, in Vietnam, when many places had to face damage of huge tropical storm, some schools organize charity activities like donating money ,groceries and encourage their students to contribute as a means to not only support people in the flood area, but also improve students ‘ awareness of bonding with people in the country.
In conclusion, although some proofs force many people to think that the main purpose of education should be improving personal achievement, from my perspective, schools should take care of helping students become a good person instead of just following individual success.
