Some argue that individuals should have the right to choose whether to pay the tax to the state or retain their income for private matters. This essay will challenge the common perspectives of how money should be allocated,
Those who believe that money earned through hard work should be kept personally are not entirely mistaken. The ultimate arguments must be about the rewards that they shall receive after performing some works which is money. Frankly speaking, no one will want to share the money that is received through great effort to the state because sometimes the state fails to distribute it to the needs. Furthermore, people will tend to question the contributions of the state in their work to deserve the portion of their income.
However, from my perspective, the state indirectly plays a huge role to provide a better living for those who live in the country without exception. Some of the practices are providing a proper and affordable public transportation, and educational and healthcare facilities which fee has been subsidized. In addition, all the general facilities such as main road, pedestrian, clean air and water, and other public facilities are provided with charged free. Therefore, to sum up, I believe that individuals should not be very selfish to just think about what they have sacrifice and what they shall receive because the concept of building a nation is not as simple as receiving the tax and keeping all for the nations. For sure, the state will give back to the citizens as well. In Indonesia, we are familiar with a term “from us, to us” meaning what we have given to the country is what we shall receive however obviously in a different form.
To sum up, I agree if people pay the tax to the nation instead of just keeping it for personal matters. I believe paying the tax to the state is one of the government’s policies to collectively develop the country to be a better nation.
