Band 7+: Some people claim many things that children are taught at school are a waste of of time. Other people argue that everything taught at school is useful at some time. Discuss both views and give your own opinion

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Many people believe in the importance of the subjects that schoolchildren learn during their studies, while others in society disagree. In my opinion, school subjects are more useful than merely a waste of time. This essay will analyze both points of view and provide examples for each.

First of all, children study a variety of subjects that allow them to gain experience in several areas. During their school years, young people study subjects such as biology, math, chemistry, geography, and more. This diverse curriculum helps them to understand these subjects better and may assist them in choosing a future major. Additionally, subjects like math can enhance cognitive capabilities and improve memory. Solving various and challenging exercises in mathematics can be beneficial not only in that sphere but in all areas of life.

On the other hand, in recent years, school-aged children have been studying too many subjects, which can impose significant pressure on them. Since each child is unique, a uniform number of subjects and tasks may not benefit every student equally. Some children may have a passion for activities like singing or dancing that are not covered in traditional school subjects. Consequently, these students often need to join clubs after school to pursue their interests. In such cases, the time spent in school can feel like a waste.

From my perspective, schoolchildren should attend school for their own development. Even if they do not see the relevance of certain subjects, schools provide essential knowledge. For example, children can learn important skills such as first aid, appropriate public behavior, and basic strategies in business. Therefore, the education provided in schools is not a waste of time.

To sum up, learning in school can have various effects on each child and may be interpreted in different ways. While there are indeed some unnecessary subjects, overall, school education serves a useful purpose for children.
